Sweetgreen is characterised by a juicy, lively taste. When you eat one, you are tasting an old fashion sweet pepper. The fruit's thicker walls allow the taste qualities to come out fully, and also make Sweetgreen easier to peel, making it the ideal pepper for use as party snacks or in salads. See recipes.
The juicy and lively sweet taste is brought out by the high content of unrefined sugars at ripe harvest. These are natural sugars that have not been stripped of their vitamins and minerals. Studies have shown that the sugar content of Sweetgreen is at least 30% higher than the ordinary green pepper. Please see the chart below for a comparison of the other colours of sweet pepper against Sweetgreen.
The delicious taste of Sweetgreen comes from its high sugar content, much higher than that of an ordinary green pepper. Of course, Sweetgreen doesn't taste the same as a red, orange, or yellow pepper. The "green identity" has been retained. So it is a real improvement, making it something you can now present your party guests on your snack plates.
